Shackleford is a self-guided robotic car built in the summer of 2014 during Penland School of Craft’s first electronic-centered wood studio.
Utilizing infrared sensors below and ultrasonic distance sensors above the front fender, Shackleford can navigate a simple course defined by solid black lines. Designed and built from scratch, the rack and pinion steering system allows for a tighter, more accurate steering system.
